Sun & Spear Studios

We build software in pursuit of a better world — not because it is simple, but because it matters.

Sun & Spear Studios is an independent software studio founded on a straightforward idea: the skills that build great products can be pointed at something good. We are not defined by any single category of software — our work spans civic education, personal privacy, and everyday utility. What unites every project is the belief that technology, done simply and honestly, can leave the world a little better than we found it.

We build with intention. Our projects don't chase trends or scale for its own sake. Each one begins with a question: does this genuinely help someone understand something, protect something, or simplify something? If the answer is yes, we get to work.

Sun & Spear is founded on simplicity and the principle of giving back — structurally, not as an afterthought. From day one, every dollar our products earn flows through a framework designed to sustain our work, reward our team, and invest meaningfully in the causes we care about most.

Three Pillars

Forty percent of all revenue generated by Sun & Spear products goes directly to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations advancing at least one of our three core values. These are not aspirational — they are contractual commitments built into how the business operates.

🔒

Privacy

We believe personal data belongs to the person it describes. We support organizations actively working to pass legislation and advance the legal cause of user privacy rights in the digital age.

☮️

Peace

Peace is not merely the absence of conflict — it is the presence of stability, opportunity, and connection. We support missions that create the conditions for peace in everyday life.

  • Peace through Housing Stability
  • Peace through Food Stability
  • Peace through Prosperity
  • Peace through Sharing Knowledge
  • Peace through Sharing Culture
🌿

Preservation

The natural world is not a resource to be managed — it is a heritage to be kept. We support organizations securing natural land and protecting it in perpetuity for all living things.

The 50 · 40 · 10 Principle

Every Sun & Spear product is governed by the same revenue framework. It is not a pledge or a campaign — it is simply how the numbers are arranged, from the very first dollar.

50%

Operations & Growth

Sustaining and expanding our work. This covers team salaries, development costs, infrastructure, and the investment required to bring future projects to life.

40%

Giving Back

Distributed to 501(c)(3) organizations advancing Privacy, Peace, or Preservation. This is the core of what Sun & Spear is — a studio that earns in order to give.

10%

Team Bonuses

Reserved for the people who make it possible. Every member of our team shares directly in the success of the work they helped create.

Projects

Sun & Spear projects are as varied as the problems worth solving. They may be games, utilities, advocacy tools, or something we haven't named yet. Each one is built with the same discipline: straightforward purpose, honest execution, and a share of every dollar pointed at something good.

Privacy Tools

Our next project centers on one of our founding pillars: personal privacy. We are developing a practical software tool designed to help everyday people understand, manage, and assert their digital privacy rights — without requiring a technical background to do so.

More details will be shared as development progresses.

Simple Utilities

Not every problem calls for a grand statement. Some tools just need to work well and get out of the way. We are exploring lightweight utility applications — starting with household pantry management — that reflect our commitment to simplicity at every scale.

Details to come. Sometimes the most useful software is also the quietest.

Our roadmap is guided by what matters — not what's popular.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I win my first election?
Focus on building support with the voter factions most prevalent in your district. Manage your campaign finances carefully, invest in name recognition early, and don't neglect your ground game. Starting on Easy difficulty is recommended for first-time players.
What is a "voter faction" and why does it matter?
Voter factions are the 22 distinct ideological and demographic groups that make up the electorate. Each faction has unique policy priorities and responds differently to your actions. Understanding and balancing faction relationships is the core strategic challenge of the game.
Can I run as an independent or third-party candidate?
Yes. While running as a major party candidate provides structural advantages (party infrastructure, easier ballot access), independent and third-party runs are possible and represent a unique strategic challenge with different coalition-building requirements.
How does opposition research work?
Your Opposition Research staff will uncover vulnerabilities in your opponent's record over time. You can then choose to use this information in debate attacks, media campaigns, or hold it in reserve. Be aware — your opponents are conducting research on you too.
How do I save my game progress?
Of The People features automatic save functionality. Your progress is saved at key milestones including after elections, legislative sessions, and major campaign events. You can also manually save from the main menu at any time.
Is this game suitable for younger players?
Of The People is designed as an educational civic simulation appropriate for players 12 and older. The game contains no graphic content, and its focus on democratic processes makes it a valuable learning tool for students and civics enthusiasts of all ages.
